The Spanish company NIF looks like it demands a trip to a tax office. It does not — here is how a foreign business gets one entirely by email.
The NIF is the tax number every business needs to trade in Spain. Foreign companies without a permanent establishment are given the N98 type, registered with the Agencia Tributaria through the Modelo 036.
There is no notarised or translated paperwork to gather, and nobody has to fly anywhere — a representative files for your company under a power of attorney.
Once it is issued, the NIF is the thing that unlocks selling, buying property, registering for VAT and EPR, and opening a Spanish bank account.
